What makes you write?

I want to write
Poetry that frees my mind.

The constant chattering that keeps me awake each night.
I want to put on paper every minute detail.
Every drop of my being and every breath of my life.

I want to write
Poetry that finds a way.

To perhaps another lost soul like me.
Someone who wants to find voice through my words and can express in my words what they feel.
What is it that keeps them up at night?

I want to write
Poetry that gives hope.

After each night spent in wakefulness,
There comes a brighter day.
There comes acceptance and understanding.
Making me wiser than before.

I want to write.
Yes I want to write.

For there is no way better to express myself,
Discovering and accepting my thoughts,
Through rants I call poetry.

So I stumbled across this photograph on Facebook with the caption, complete the sentence "I want to write ..." I stared at it for a good minute before I scrambled for a pen and piece of paper to scribble on. The above was what I did write. I didn't intend to publish it to be honest, but then I realised it was a great way to interact and know what would you fellow bloggers want to write about too. After all, a Facebook post compelled me to write this one!

What do you want to write? Please do mention below in the comments :)

    1. Me neither, nothing big you know? Your writing does compel the reader to lose themselves in the words. I'd say mission accomplished! :D

    1. Yeah there is a certain relief in writing. I do haha this one was written at 11:45 then I published it at midnight. I usually tend to stay awake until 3 am. Not a very good habit I must admit.

  4. Loved reading this poem. You are right. Writing helps people find their way. We get to live a moment twice. Once when it happened and once in the retrospect. Writing gives us a content feeling. Lets us know that words are there to stay, to be constant.
    Beautiful Poem...:)

    1. Thanks Jemina. I second that thought. It's a time captured in words. :)

  7. To me writing is the best medium of expression. I want to write something that moves people, and they remember it for quite sometime.

  8. Writing is the great passion of my life...it is the only way to get the inner me out there into the World!
I would really love to write something that comforts all those people out there who are suffering...in whatever way they are suffering...and to bring healing.
Only then will I feel that my life has been truly fulfilled! :)

  11. That's great. You're writing out of the natural urge of your mind. It is the best part. :)
